SUMMER SKETCHING SERIES

Calling All Middle & High School Students!
Are You Ready To Level Up Your Sketching Skills?

This series is designed to introduce middle and high school students to architectural thinking through sketching and drawing. In this two-session workshop, students will explore how architects communicate ideas through drawing.

Session 1 focuses on visual thinking—using simple shapes to represent space, creating quick interior and exterior perspectives, and understanding symmetry and repetition.

Session 2 dives into depth and dimension—teaching how to apply shade and shadow, sketch from still life, and enhance drawings for presentation impact.
Perfect for creative students interested in design and architecture.

Throughout the sessions, students will:

  • Learn how to sketch interior and exterior spaces

  • Explore concepts like symmetry, perspective, shadow, and depth

  • Practice quick drawing exercises to express design ideas

  • Build confidence in visual communication and creative thinking

  • Learn how architects use sketching in their business.

  • Focus: How to Show Depth with Shade & Shadow

  • Facilitated by Architectural Designer, Zachary Terry
